Day one living in our new house we ripped up the carpet out of the bedrooms upstairs and built a fence so our crazy black lab wouldn't get out. Our movers came the following day, and we left the front door open most of that time, Keep in mind it was the first week of August and hot as Hades.
The following day we noticed that although we had the AC on and set in the low 70s, our house felt like it was 98 degrees. After tinkering with the thermostat and giving it ample time to cool down, it was still sticky and hot inside. We determined that our AC was not working and used our home warranty to have someone come out and look at our unit. The technician said that it needed a new compressor, and that it would be approximately a week for it to ship. No AC for a week in the heat of August and in the initial stages of trying to work on our house!
And that's just what we did-- kept working. The next day we started taking down wallpaper. We had seven rooms to go and no time to waste. It actually took us about a year to finish taking down the wallpaper. While I was taking down wallpaper in the kitchen, dining room, and downstairs bathroom, Daniel had started demolishing the upstairs bathroom with my dad. Daniel had seven weeks before starting his new job, I had two weeks, and we were determined to get as much done as possible in that time-- AC or no AC.
