After Daniel ripped down the old tile in the bathroom, which exposed the insides of the walls, we saw that our old cast iron drain pipe had a 15 inch crack down the side! Thankfully the sellers had purchased a home warranty (this is customary when buying an old home) for us, and we would be able to use that. A plumber was at our house a couple of days later (just meeting him is another blog entry; his company is called "Big Daddy's Plumbing" and of course, Daniel asked when he called him, "Is this 'Big Daddy' himself?"), and he replaced the section of damaged pipe with PVC. In order to connect the PVC and cast iron pipes using metal fittings, he had to bust out sections of our hall closet that connect with the bathroom wall.

The PVC and fittings have been installed!

Before; The holes in our hall closet from the pipe in the bathroom.
